1st APM Allstar Awards Given Out at Meridium Conference 2016
For the first time, Meridium recognized individuals who have worked diligently to advance asset performance management (APM) at their companies and in their specific industries with the APM Allstar Awards.
With AT&T Stadium as the backdrop and Dallas Cowboys Hall-of-Fame Quarterback Roger Staubach and Wide Receiver Drew Pearson on stage to greet the winners, Meridium CEO and Founder Bonz Hart explained why APM Allstar Awards were created.
"This is our way of honoring and thanking those individuals who have been instrumental to the development of APM throughout the years,” explained Hart.
APM Allstar Awards 2016
The APM Allstar Enabler Award, which recognizes IT professionals work to enable their business through technology, was presented to Ethan Gekoski of LyondellBasell Industries and Scott Myers of Flint Hills Resources. These individuals helped their own companies, to continuously improve the process, connectivity, and performance of their APM solutions. This award also recognizes their efforts to foster successful integrations of APM with other systems in their companies.
The APM Champion Allstar Award goes to individuals who are dedicated advocates for an overall APM initiative within their organizations. Kevin Bauman of The Dow Chemical Company, John Hawkins of Axiall, Kris Killinger of ExxonMobil, and Ethan Yabs of Kraton Polymers were awarded this honor. These individuals have helped define how APM enables the strategic direction of their companies and have demonstrated the value of tying relevant data and systems together.
The APM Executive Allstar Award honors an executive who saw the vision for APM in his or her company and recognized that reliability improvements would come from approaching asset management differently. The 2016 recipient of this award is Mark Freeman, vice president of Technical Services at Xcel Energy.
APM Awards 2016
On the last day of Meridium Conference 2016, Meridium also recognized several companies for being industry leaders in APM innovation with the APM Awards 2016.
The APM Best Practice Award, which recognizes a pioneering best practice that optimizes a process using Meridium APM solutions, was awarded to Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem), one of the world's top producers of specialty chemicals. CPChem was selected based on exemplary work around developing clearly defined asset integrity work processes and driving a successful enterprise implementation. CPChem initially embarked on a corporate Meridium implementation project, and quickly realized success was dependent upon on empowering its user base through the development and delivery of role-based competency and training programs. The entire organization assumed a vital role in training and system utilization to deliver real value through APM.
The APM Enterprise Technology Award went to Petropiar, one of the Venezuela’s leading oil and natural gas reserve operators. The APM Enterprise Technology Award recognizes the company that has implemented a technology solution that has eliminated or integrated the most stand-alone solutions, and effectively removed many of the data silos in their organizations to create a true enterprise APM system.
The APM Innovation Award recognizes the company that has developed and implemented new and innovative uses of the Meridium APM solution to change work processes within their industry, enabling sustainable value. Rio Tinto, a leading global metals and mining company that focuses on finding, mining and processing the Earth’s mineral resource, was recognized for its early and visionary work developing a reliability-centered maintenance (RCM)-based approach with Meridium Asset Health Manager and Policy Designer. Integrating Meridium’s advanced APM capabilities with Emerson’s asset management software analytics enabled Rio Tinto to create a weighted health for each of their critical assets. These calculated values are now rolled up into the asset hierarchy so that managers and supervisors can get the overall health view for each site and system and prioritize maintenance needs efficiently.
