Optimizing Asset Management Strategies for Power Distribution
This webinar was held on February 25, 2009 @ 11:00 AM EST
Registration for this webinar is now closed.

The ARRA (American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009), merger and acquisition activities, and new distribution automation equipment have created profitability and performance opportunities within the utility transmission and distribution industry which requires that utilities take a fresh look at some of their most established work processes. To remain competitive, new and innovative approaches are needed to better manage predictable power distribution. Plan to join us for this webinar to learn how you can optimize your asset management strategies to achieve this goal.

Presenting with us will be:

Desert Sky Group, LLC
Jon Brock, President

Desert Sky Group has recently completed research on the utility industry as it relates to distribution system efficiency and optimization. Most stimulus funds are focused on smart meters and dynamic pricing. This research focuses on innovative technologies that can optimize the distribution grid without the need to "touch" residential customers. What are these technologies and what have the results been to date for utilities? These questions will be addressed in this presentation by industry expert and leading analyst Jon Brock.

Asset Performance Technologies, Inc.
Mark Benak, Vice President, Business Development

APT knows that traditional design and risk-focused activities must include additional information to adequately address the needs of Preventive Maintenance development. APT pioneered this style of analysis in the power industry, and refer to it as a PMEA (Preventive Maintenance Equipment Analysis). PMEA is made specific to an equipment type (e.g. transformer), and embedded within it is the information needed to apply across a wide range of model types and operating contexts. APT takes great care that the PMEA itself is not encumbered by system and application specific information, which can and must be elevated to a higher level in the analysis.

Since the PMEA then becomes an application independent object (template) that can be used repeatedly, without change, for every instance of that type of equipment wherever it occurs in the distribution network. This is the power behind the APT Asset Strategy Library, and has resulted in the development of PM Templates for over 320 equipment types, with intensive participation by many utilities and manufacturers (representing 3,500 man-years of experience).
